About Us

The Department of Local Government was formed on 1 July 2009. The responsibilities of the department focus on local government matters and include the Office of Multicultural Interests and administrative responsibility for the Heritage Council.

The Department comprises four divisions:

• Corporate Business Services
• Governance and Legislation
• Strategic and Structural Reform
• Office of Multicultural Interests
